Window balance spring

A landlord from Luverne MN says:
Hello,
I am looking for balance spring replacements. I believe the windows are 71.75 inch tall Jeld wen windows. They have these old spring types that don't work anymore. I am looking for 5 sets (10 springs) Thanks

Thanks for reaching out to us! I'm confident that we can help with this balance, but before I recommend anything with certainty I would like you to confirm the diameter of the spring itself. It should be either 3/8" or 1/2". This will be a huge factor in what hardware I recommend for a replacement, so please let me know at your convenience!

A landlord from Luverne MN says:
I believe it is 1/2 inch. Please see the picture

Great! That just made your life a whole lot easier. With that in mind, you can use our Series 795 as a replacement. The actual process of using this newer channel balance style in your window requires a little extra handy-work, though, so I highly recommend watching the video below. This will walk you through exactly what you need to do step by step.

One other thing to note that the video may not cover: your old "T" shoe is only 1" wide. Meanwhile, the default shoe that comes with the Series 795 is 1-1/4" wide, which is too big for your needs. That means you'll need to buy the smaller 15-194 shoe separately and then pop it onto the balance when you get them. They just snap on and off, it's very simple.

I think I got what I needed. Thanks for the help!
