Window channel balance - can't install window

A quick learner from Orlando, FL says:
I am wondering why I can't get the window back in the frame with the parts I ordered S380-29, 2830 & 2820.
The stamp on the original parts are "28B" and "28C".

I tried 2 windows and could not get the windows back in the frames after installing the channel balances. (I had to remove them to get the windows back in.) In comparing measurements with the original parts I find that the depth of the new part is slightly larger and also that the depth of the shoe is slightly larger (1/8). See the pictures of the original parts.

Can you you help? Do I need a different balance?...

Thank you.

Tom from SWISCO responded:

Yep, I agree. It looks like your shoe is a much smaller version than the 15-005 that comes with the Series 380. Yours is 7/8" deep rather than 1".

We can custom make a balance with you that uses a shoe in that size, if you'd like. Since you already bought these balances you could also just shave the shoes down a little until they're more to size. I've done that before in a pinch and I find that it works just fine; you can use a utility knife. Just note that you cannot return them for a refund if you do that. It's ultimately up to you; you can't return a custom balance, either, so you would be in more or less the same boat.

Let me know how you want to proceed. I'm happy to make this custom balance for you, just say the word.
