One of my clients has a vertical window and has lost both channel balances. The movable sash measures about 4' wide and 16-1/2" high. Could you recommend a channel balance size, and an estimate of the strength the balance must be to hold it in place. If you need further measurements please let me know. The channel balance is 1/2" wide as all the others on his windows were.

We will need to see some photos of the balance removed from the window to be able to determine the best replacement for you. Specifically, we want to see those end attachments and the stamp printed on the metal channel.

Thanks for getting back to us. Without the original balances, it will be tricky, but not impossible.
I assume the window from which you pulled these balances is identical to the original, other than size? If so, the balance is either our Series 380 or Series 385, depending on the size of the bottom shoe. Now, all we need is the height of the visible glass and the exact weight of the sash. That will let us calculate what size and strength you need.
Thank you! With that information, I'd recommend a 14" long balance with a 1350 option, which can carry 12 through 15 pounds.
