Window parts - How to remove and ID

Question

Hi, I attempted to go in and remove the window balance hardware but ran into some issues. As you can see from the photos, the spring has snapped off from the main slider/balance and needs to be replaced. The springs were attached to the hooked aluminum piece (set with philips had screw)...I disattached them from that hooked aluminum piece (which I then screwed back in for now) and the springs could be dropped down.  HOWEVER, there is that one threaded flat head screw there that will not come out...attempting to loosen or tighten it does nothing...it just turns loosely and stays there. The spring had been up against it so maybe it is some kind of stop??  On the opposite side though (where springs are still attached and working the threaded screw is INSIDE the coiled spring.  I am unable to slide up the springs/pivot shoes higher for removal. There is no slot for removal and I understand I need to cut one out but I wanted it to be up near top so as to be out of view. Therefore, I have not yet removed the pivot shoe as I need to find a way to get that threaded stops crew out. Any ideas???  I will order parts from you as soon as I can get it out and match it up.

Thanks for posting. So, this piece should have been cut out during installation. Whoever installed these windows apparently didn't do it. It won't be easy to remove, but you'll have to find a way to cut it out. The good news is, we can tell you up front what coil balance system this is. See our 15-087 Pivot Shoe, which is compatible with our 15-086 Tandem Housing and 16-024 Mounting Bracket. This shoe uses our Series 180 Coil Springs. You'll need to look for stamps on the coil springs to know what spring weights to use; or weigh your window sash, give us the exact weight and we can tell you what you need.
