Window parts - How to remove and ID
Thanks for posting. So, this piece should have been cut out during installation. Whoever installed these windows apparently didn't do it. It won't be easy to remove, but you'll have to find a way to cut it out. The good news is, we can tell you up front what coil balance system this is. See our 15-087 Pivot Shoe, which is compatible with our 15-086 Tandem Housing and 16-024 Mounting Bracket. This shoe uses our Series 180 Coil Springs. You'll need to look for stamps on the coil springs to know what spring weights to use; or weigh your window sash, give us the exact weight and we can tell you what you need.
Thanks...I had a feeling that piece shouldn't be there...made no sense in the place that is in the track and would interfere with spring movement. Is it some kind of leveler or whatever??
I have a large bolt cutter which I think I can maneuver in there and cut off at track edge. Worse case a handheld single/protruding hacksaw blade.
Also...best practice would be to cut out removal slot at the very top for removing the shoe, etc??
Yes, see the video below for details on the cutout procedure. Let us know how you make out.
