Window spring balance conversation from Spiral to Coil

Home Owner from Minnesota
We have 16 double hung windows (varying sizes) on which the spiral balances have broken. The windows are still very good and we do not want to replace the windows. Your Youtube video suggests that we could repair them. We want to replace the lower spiral balances with coils.

We could not locate any part numbers on the coil springs showing above.

Thank you

Thanks for writing in! Your exact pivot shoe has been discontinued and is no longer available but the good news is that we do have a replacement that will work just as well.

Take a look over the dimension from our 15-177 Coil Balance Shoe. Carefully compare them to your existing shoe to confirm that this is the right replacement for your existing shoe.

These are compatible with the 1/2" thick Series 152 coil balance springs. To determine the correct spring strength for a particular sash, you'll need to look for any stamps/markings on the metal coil(s) in the window. If there are no stamps/markings or they are hard to read, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of your sash. Once you have the sash weight, you'll divide it by the number of coils in the window.

You'll need to secure the coil to the shoe using the 33-072You may also need the 15-143 coil bushing and the 15-144 coil bushing cap.
