Window springs broken

Handy Person from Sanibel, Florida
I believe these are American brand windows purchaced through Home Depot, they are about ten years old. The windows are imposible to open! They are hurricane rated, very heavy. They made it through storms IAN, Debbie, Helene and Milton. Additionally, is there any kind of lubricant I should use when replacing these parts? And do you sell replacement side seals and strips? I'm hoping to repair what I have and not have to replace them.

Thank you for contacting us! The 15-228 pivot shoe comes to mind, though this is just an educated guess. You'll ultimately want to remove the old one to confirm this part matches what you need. For compatible springs, see the 1/2" Series 160. To determine the proper spring weights, you'll have to weigh the window sash and divide the weight by the total number of springs in the window. You're also welcome to get back to us with the sash weight and we can calculate what you need from there.

Lubricating the parts isn't necessary but it can't hurt to spray the track with silicone. You can pick up silicone spray at any local hardware store.

We do sell weatherstripping which can be found here. If you'd like us to ID yours, we'd have to see an undamaged sample removed, showing a full view of the end profile.
