Windows not staying up

A quick learner from Mission Viejo, Ca. says:

Several of my windows have the same problem. The shoes plastic top that connects with the cord has broken off. I don't know how to get to it to examine and replace.

First picture shows a shoe that is connected to the cord. Second picture shows a disconnected cord and a shoe that's plastic cord holder is broken. The piece that is broken looks like it is part of the shoe or could be a small piece that connects with the shoe through that Phipps screw. I don't have a clue what the holes in the pictures by the side of the shoes are for?

The shoe in your photo looks like our 15-104 friction shoe. Look it over and see what you think. Assuming the top hook is the only piece that broke, you could probably just replace this part to get your window functioning again.
