Quick Learner from Raleigh, NC
Need Alenco aluminum window part. Single hung non-tilt channel balance. Looks like part #S385-28 28" is correct but do not know which sash weight option? Bottom double glass is 29.5" wide x 29" tall.
Present balance marking is " 27 3 CALDWELL HN "
Will need 4 units + 4 "take out clips"

Hello there. The S385-28 has a metal channel that is 28" long (not including the nylon fittings at either end). The top fitting matches the winged 19-005, and the bottom fitting matches the 15-004, which is winged and also has a shoe depth of 1-3/32". The depth is the distance from the heel to the toe of the shoe, just below and perpendicular to where the metal channel ends. See the image below for reference. If your balance's shoe depth is not 1-3/32", let us know what it is, and we'll determine if you need a different balance Series. If in doubt, please send us photos of the fittings as well! Your stamped marking of "27 3" usually corresponds to our 2730 option which holds a sash weight of 13-19 pounds for the S385-28 channel balance. Does that sound about how much your sash weighs? If you're uncertain, obtain the exact weight of the window sash via a bathroom scale, and that should determine it for you. Let us know if the weight falls outside the 2730 range.

Let us know if you have further questions!

Thanks for getting back to us. It's a good thing you sent photos--it looks like the top and bottom fittings lack wings, so in that case I would actually recommend either our S351-28 or S390-28 channel balances. The Series 351 has a bottom shoe depth of 1", whereas the Series 390 has a 1-1/8" deep shoe. Based on the photos I suspect you're dealing with the Series 390, but do measure to confirm. Let us know if you have any further questions!
