balance spring

Home Owner from Minnesota
I have vinyl double hung windows that tilt in for cleaning. Some of the springs are broken. There are no part numbers on the window or window components and I don't know the brand name. There is no markings on the spring to know what weight they should be. The spring looks to be 1/2 wide. It looks like I could reuse the plastic components shown in the picture.

Thanks for writing in. See our 15-177 Pivot Shoe. This shoe is compatible with our Series 152 Coil Springs. Look for stamps on the coil tape that indicates what spring weights you need. If there are none, or you are uncertain, give us the exact weight of your window sash, and we'll work out what you need. Many thanks.

Hello, thanks for getting back to me. I didn't see any markings on the spring for weight. I took the top and bottom sash out and weighed them. They each weigh 20lbs. Which spring should I get?

You can go with two S152-5 coil springs on each side of the window. Each coil hold five pounds. so with two on each side will hold a sash weight of 20 pounds. Look it over and let us know if any other questions come up.
