casement handle for SilverLine windows

Quick Learner from Hartselle, AL
Hello, 22 years ago I installed Silverline windows in the house I was building. I think that the UV rays or just age has caused many of these handle mechanisms to crack, keeping the window from opening. Do you have replacement mechanisms and new handles?

Hello,

It looks like the spline that the handle attaches to has come loose from the base, meaning the entire assembly will need to be replaced. Your GU operators are no longer available but see our conversion video below to install our 39-315 replacement. Thanks for posting!

Hello! I learned that I have twin Silverline casements (casement product #7552) and singles (#7551). Does this help to determine the replacement crank mechanisms/cranks?

Unforutnately, the manufacturer information does not identify the hardware but it does look like you have a discontinued GU operator as we mentioned in our last responses. The 39-315 shown in our conversion video would be our best replacement option.

I just want to say THANK YOU for your help and the video link! I have a total of 11 casement cranks to replace. I did the first this morning and it took me about 40 minutes (rusted screws to remove.) The next window (rusted screws but with a new tool to easily remove them) took me all of 10 minutes! I'm going to order the remaining window parts I need and get them all done before I sell this house.

On a side note, some of the secondary arms are rusted on my window. Do you have replacements and clips for these also (see attached photo)?

I'm happy to hear that everything worked out well so far. As for your hinges, take a look at the 36-048. this should work as long as the 10" base that attaches to the sill matches yours.

I am now looking to get an upper window slide for the same Silverline casement window. The one I have has a plastic slide that moves right and left in a metal track. When the window opens to a certain point, that plastic slide comes out and the weight of the window causes the window to come out of the casement.

I have attached some pictures. The slide mechanism mounts to the top of the window with 4 screws, and connects to the frame with the black sliding piece and an arm with a clip. IMG_4217 shows the black plastic piece that comes out of the slide when the window gets to about 75% of open.

Unforutnately, the black slide is not available separately but the 36-048 hinge set that we mentioned in our last response comes with hinges for the top and bottom of the sash. As long as you replace both hinges at the same time and they use the same 10" base, you should be good to go.
