certainteed vinyl single hung

Question

I have certainteed vinyl single hung windows. Both coils have a 6 on them. Sash weighs 15lbs. I see what appears to be a exact match for the shoe and springs. Just want to be sure.

Hello!

It looks like you have an older Certainteed pivot shoe. We used to recommend the newer style 15-192 shoe but some customers reported it doesn't work quite as well and requires a good amount of modification to make it actually work. For example, the 15-192 has small "nubs" on its face which would have to be filed down and the overall thickness may also need to be reduced for it to operate comfortably.

With that said, we like to recommend converting to the 15-259 pivot shoe and Series 159 coil balances. We even have a video that will walk you through this entire process along with the additional parts you'll need. Take a look and see what you think.
