channel spring

A handy person from Las Vegas, NV says:
I need to replace two of these, but I am confused about which one to get. The numbers don't match completely, so thought I would ask. They are 32" long (just the metal rail part)

Tom from SWISCO responded:
This is confusing, but it has a certain logic to it: a "31 3" stamp means that you need a 32" channel balance with a 3130 stamp option. The balance itself is either a Series 380 or a Series 385, but you need to check it. Measure the bottom plastic shoe like in the picture at the bottom of the post. If your shoe measures 1-3/32", you have an S385-32. If it measures 1", you need an S380-32.
