coil springs in vinyl window

Home Owner from Fairfax, VA

Coil springs in no-name vinyl window stopped working; window won't stay up. They are visible ouside of the enclosure on both sides, unlike other working widows in the house. I'm not sure what I need to fix the window. Based on the attached pictures, can you tell? If you need better pictures, please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for posting! This coil assembly is similar to a few different assemblies we have. I'm happy to provide a replacement recommendation for it, but I will need to see a clear unobstructed view of the housing to identify the correct match. You'll need to remove the window sash to obtain this photo.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the additional photos. This window balance assembly can be replaced with the 15-087 Coil Housing Pivot (the compatible pivot bar is the 26-040) and the 15-086 Tandem Coil Housing. Carefully compare the dimensions below to confirm this will be the right fit.

There are video tutorials, tagged below, with instructions for removing and installing the hardware.

These housing both use the Series 180 Coil Balance. Your housings do not have stamps/markings so you'll need to check the coil springs for any that might indicate the coil weight option. If your do not have stamps, you'll need to confirm the exact sash weight.
