My old window does not slide up/down. The crossbow spring plastic hooks are broken and need to be replaced. Could you please help me with the replacement part or check if the same part is available?
We should be able to help, yes. Crossbow balances are actually obsolete, so no company is making them anymore, but the good news is that we sell modern replacement balances that can work just as well.
Before I suggest anything, though, I need to know what kind of configuration we're working with. I'd like to start with photos of your old balance assembly. Specifically, I need you to remove an undamaged version of the old balance and show me a clear shot of the top end, bottom end, and the pivot shoe. I'll also need you measure the overall length; this is why having an undamaged version is essential. It's not possible to accurately measure these when they're broken.
Lastly, please weigh your sash on a scale and give me the exact weight. This will allow us to calculate the right spring calibration.
My Windows was installed in the year 2000. it has a sliding and tilting bottom part. Rod balances having string hooked to the top of window side wood frames broke. I require the correct replacement
thanks

Thanks for these photos. There are some important details that are still obscured, though. I also don't have all of the information that I requested in my previous response; all of that data is necessary, so we can't skip anything.
At this stage I still need a clear photo of the top and bottom ends of an undamaged balance, the pivot shoe, and I'll also need the exact weight of the sash. As mentioned before, a broken balance isn't really going to help us in terms of identification. It has to still be in good condition and it has to be removed from the window. Please let me know if it's possible and we can work from there.
As mentioned before, I need everything I asked for in my previous response. Each one of these details is vitally important and we can't move forward without them.
attached are pictures.
weight of stash = 16lbs.
length of cross bows(tube rod) after taken outside the window = 27.25 inches
Perfect, thank you! This is a huge help. This old balance can be replaced with our modern Series 795. It's a fairly straight forward conversion but it does require handiwork to complete. The good news is that we have a tutorial video that shows you how this can be done, step by step. I'll share the video below. As long as you follow the instructions in this video you will get your window back in working order, but please don't hesitate to reach out if you had any questions. I'm happy to help on any point.
1. 27" Series 795 Channel Balance
Product Code: S795-27
2. 26-200 Balance screw plug
3.26-021 (2-1/2" pivot bar)
4. 15-195 Tblock balance bottom
