jeld wen balance

Home Owner from Rochester Hills, MI

I need to replace the balance in my jeld wen window. The cord broke and the balance appears to have slid down the channel in the jamb. The number on the balance (see picture) is 22rb bsi vk. Can you recommend a replacement?

Forgot to mention that my window is a double hung tilt in style.

Hello,

We'd be happy to help but we'll need more information to determine if we can supply replacement balances. If you could remove the balance and show us the fitting attached to the end of the pulley clip, as well as where the top of the balance attaches to the window jamb, we can go from there. See the related videos to assist you in the meantime. Thank you!

I'm adding another photo. This one shows the "knife lock" with the cut cord still attached. The channels appear to go all the way up to the top of the jamb.

Your balance is similar to the S751 at first glance. Your stamp indicates that the metal channel may measure 23" long. If so, take a look at the S751-23

You'll also need to remove the knife lock shoe to confirm if the 15-014 that comes with our stock balances matches yours. If so, you'll need to weigh the sash and follow the chart under the product description to choose the corresponding strength option.

I measured the lower sash metal channel and it was 24.5 " long. Does that mean I can use the 751-23 balance with the long S-clip? I also weighed the sash and it was 16.5 lbs.
The upper sash channel stamp is 20 RT BSI VF and it measured approximately 21" (see attached picture). What do recommend for the upper sash balance replacement?

For the 24.5" channel balance, you may be able to use the S751-25 with the 19-030 long s-clip. For a 16.5-pound sash, you'd need (24R) options to support a sash between 10-18 lbs.

For the 21" channel balance, see the S751-21 (20R) for a sash between 10-17 lbs. Look over both balances and let us know if you have any other questions.
