We have Milgard windows but unfortunatley not the original owner - so no warranty. The window that I'm trying to repair replacement window balancers installed but they are not the right ones. I removed window from adjacent identical window and those are the photos submitted including the PN 20 4 jw cmc 11. i did a rough measurement of the correct balancer and it was near 18 inches long. I thought with the PN you would be able to find me an acceptable unit. Thanks- Bill Benshoof

Hello there, Bill. I am confident we can help, but that stamp is actually not a part number. It just tells us the strength of the balance. To know what identity, we will need you to remove the balance and send us clear photos of the nylon attachments at both ends. The combination of attachments will determine the balance you need.

Was able to remove adjacent window and remove balance. Aluminum portion is exactly 21 inches long. Photos show features of each end. Width of plastic piece by hook is 1 inch.

Thanks for getting back to me, Bill. This looks like either an S380-21 or S385-21. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See below. It sounds like from what you're saying, the depth is 1" and you'd need the Series 380. Still, double-check this to be safe.

In either case, for a stamp option choose 2040. Let me know if you have further questions.
