mini-wheel roller

Quick Learner from Michigan
I have an unusual patio door roller. And I don't know how to remove it from my door.
Do you have this part? How do I remove it?

This looks like an old Great "caterpillar" roller assembly. This has unfortunately been discontinued for some time now. That said, a friend of ours suggested the 81-279 as a nice replacement. The adjustment screw is a little higher, but the wheel rolls nicer than the tank treads and should work even better.

To remove the bottom door roller assembly, you first need to lay the door down on a stable surface and unscrew the two bottom frame screws. Then you can use a block of wood and hammer carefully knock off the bottom door rail from the glass. That will allow you to slide off the roller assembly.

The frame doesn't come apart!

There should be a screw inside the roller that goes into the wood. Move the roller around to find it. You would be well off adding a 1/4" shim above the new roller.
