mortise lock 82-239

Question

From the measurements, it seems like this lock should work for me, with the keeper installed on my door.  But my previous lock didn't have the anti-slam button, so my faceplate that I would need to re-use doesn't have a hole for it.  Would the faceplate be enough to hold down the anti-slam button so that the lock would work?

If your old mortise had a face plate, would our 82-265 be a better option? This comes with a flat face plate that accommodates the anti-slam button on the newer style mortise.
