I have several Gentek Double Hung Windows (Installed in 2014) where the pivot shoe is broken. Can you please help me identify the right pivot shoe for these windows? I have attached a picture of the original pivot shoe with dimensions. It is 0.5" thick with a height of 1.25" and a middle section width also 1.25". Can I use the SWISCO 15-111 Pivot shoe as a replacement? It looks different but I think it will work

Thanks for writing in! We do not carry an exact match for your existing coil balance assembly, however, you are correct. Our 15-111 or 15-191 should work well as a suitable replacement. These each have the same measurements but the 15-191 is a heavy duty version of the other shoe. Carefully compare the measurements to your existing pivot shoe to confirm that this style shoe is the right fit.

The compatible coil spring is the Series 160 Coil. To determine exact which spring is needed for your window, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of your window. Once you have the weight, you'll need to divide it by the total number of coils in the window. This will give you the spring strength needed for each coil.

Thank you for the reply. My current coil springs are in good condition ( as you can see in the picture). I plan to use your 15-191 shoe with my current double coil springs. This should work correct? I can simple put the new pivot shoe - correct?

I'm happy to help! I did notice that the coil spring are in good condition however, I am not able to see they way they connect to the shoe. I assume they hook onto the shoe using a hole, and if I am correct, your exiting coils will not be compatible with our 15-191. The Series 160 coil attaches to our shoe using a T-shaped tab.

If you are unsure of how yours connect to the shoe, please detach them and send a photo of the end the coil.

Yes, they do connect with Coil using the Hole in the coil. I will check to see if the existing coil has a T-shaped Tab. If it does not - is there another Pivot shoe you would recommend that I can use with my existing coils?

This is the pivot shoe we recommend as a replacement for you existing hardware. We do not have any other alternatives. Unfortunately, you may need to replace the coils in the window.

Hello,

I received the Pivot shoe 15-191 and also the Series 160 coil 10lbs. However now I am running into another issue. My current support bracket does not fit with these new coils. The barrel diameter is 0.75" however the series 160 coils have 0.5" diameter. What do you suggest - do I need to order the support bracket as well? Also I would be concerned if my existing holes in the window where the current bracket (2 holes) will fit for the new support bracket. See attached pictures of the new and old.

The cover compatible with the Series 160 coil springs are our 15-150D 1/2" Coil Double Supports.

Jasmine, Thank you for your quick reply. Two further questions:
1. Are the coils piggyback each other or does each coil T-end go on the left and right side of the pivot shoe?
2. How is the bracket installed on the frame? Not clear from the pictures where the screws will go. If it does not align with my existing screw holes - I assume this is not a big deal to drill new ones... Also, anything that will guide me to make sure I install this at the right height would be helpful.

I'm happy to help! The coils can be installed either way. Although, it may be easier to install them on opposite sides of the shoe.

The dual coil support gets screw in using the bottom hole. You may need to drill a new hole to do so. Take a look at the videos below for an idea on how to install these coil balance assemblies.
