need help with a window balance
Thanks for your patience during this busy season. We can supply this balance, but only as a custom order due to the shoe at the end of the cord. This is the 15-233 Great Lakes shoe, which is not available as a standard option on any of our assemblies.
Before we can begin, I need a bit more information from you. To start, please verify the exact length of the metal channel by itself, as well as the weight of the sash down to the ounce. We unfortunately cannot garner measurements from a photo of a tape measure, so all relevant sizes need to be written out. Just to be safe, please also verify that the metal channel is 1/2" wide.
Lastly, please tell me how many balances you needed altogether.
I may eventually may need balances for some 20 windows, however, for now I would prefer to do one window to determine that this solution will work ok. I have measured the width of the old existing channel and it is the same as the S571 (I previously ordered a couple S571's to see if they might work).
For the window I would like to do, the upper sash balance (metal portion only) length is 26 15/16 inches and the weight of the sash is 28 lbs 9 ozs. The length of the lower sash balance is 28 3/16 inches and the sash is an even 28 lbs in weight.
Will ordering the S571 balance with a 15-233 shoe have much impact on lead-time or cost? If so, could I replace the standard shoe with a 15-233 on my end?

Ordering the balance and shoe separately will actually be cheaper for you, but it will require more effort on your end to actually attach the shoe. We are happy to do that for you here in our shop, but it incurs an extra cost for the effort. It's ultimately up to you!
If you are experienced with this kind of project and know how to swap out this kind of shoe, then it would definitely be the most cost effective solution. If you want us to do it for you, though, then just let me know and I can get the ball rolling on that.

To clarify what we're making, it will be the following configuration:
- 28" long S751-28 base
- 27TG stamp, rated for 24 through 31 pounds (to match your 28.9 lbs sash)
- The default 15-014 shoe swapped out for our 15-233 great lakes shoe
Once you receive this link, you can add the balance to your cart and then checkout as normal.
Note that we have bulk quantity discounts, starting at orders of 12. If you order more of these in the future, you can expect the price-per-balance to be less.
