removing coil balance

Home Owner from Massachusetts
After watching your video, I removed the sash. There is no cutout to slide the hardware out. Do I have to make one?
thanks

Hi Patrick,

Your coil balance shoe looks like it could be our 15-177 Coil Balance Shoe. I am confident this is the replacement you'll need but be sure to look over the dimensions and compare them to confirm.

This shoe is compatible with the 1/2" thick, Series 152 Coil Balance, secured to the shoe using the 33-072 screw. To determine which coil you need for your assembly, you'll need to check for any stamps markings on the metal. If there aren't any, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash and divide that number by the total number of coils in the window.

To replace the cover you'll need the 15-143 Coil Bushing, 15-144 Coil Bushing Cap, and the 15-145 Coil Support Barrel.

You will need to make a cutout in the window channel to remove the balances but the process is fairly easy to complete. Take a look at the video tutorial below for an idea on how to make the cutouts in the window.
