replacement window 29" channel & spring

A home owner from FL says:

i have a 29" long metal channel that has repeatedly broken over the last 15 years because i think the window may weigh more then the springs can handle. the window size is 50 inches wide by 32 inches tall. the current channel/spring assembly has a stamp saying "280 USB" on the back side. the window is only opened 6 or 7 times a year, and every year or two i have to replace the assembly because the bolt/post connections holding the pulley and spring in place bend and break. should i consider your 2870 option for a heavy window like i have? The bottom shoe is only 1" wide and the metal only length is 29".

Thanks for writing in. Can you show us a photo of the nylon fitting at either end of the balance, just to confirm what Series you're working with? Can you also provide us the exact weight of the window sash? That will help us determine if you indeed need a different stamp option. Many thanks.

A home owner from FL says:
window weight is 20 pounds. My pictures will not upload so I am sending pictures to help@swisco.com in a separate email.

Sounds great. Once we receive them, we will have a look and go from there.

A home owner from FL says:

Window weight is 20 pounds, shoe is 1" wide.

looking at the stam again, it might be 28C and not 280.

Thanks for getting back to us. Perfect. Looks like you have either an S380-29 or S385-29. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. You will need a stamp option of 2830.
