Sirs;
We have Certainteed Bryn Mawr windows that were insatalled in our house in 1994. We have been and are very happy with them. However, someone recently broke into our house through one of these windows. (Prior to the break-in, the bottom unit of the double hung windows was open about 3 inches up to the base of the "Vent Latch", a security feature of this model when sold.)
The window remains totally functional except the 2 venting locks were broken by the intruder. The Vent Latch looks similar to the one shown in the Swisco catalog - # 26-122, but the exterior dimentions are different. Instead of 2"h x 3/8"w (shown in Cat log # 26-122), the exterior dimentions are 2 1/2"h x 1/2'w.
Would you please assist me in finding 2 replacement venting locks that fit our window. Assuming that you will be successful, guidance on how to remove and install these locks would be appreciated, also.
Thank you.
Kurt

Thank you for posting, sir. Please take a look at our 26-148 vent latch and see if you think it would work for you!

Sirs,
I just returned from travel, so just now responding to your email.
What you provided (26-148) looks like the correct product. I put an order in for two white latches.
I assume that the new latches pop into the slots after I remove the old latches.
Are there any tricks to removing the old latches without damaging the window?
Thank you for your continued help and support.

I'm glad to hear that you were pleased with our suggested part! As for removing the old vent lock, you can pop them out with a flat head screwdriver. Just make sure you don't damage your window.

I received the vent latches that you provided, removed the broken ones, and installed the new without damaging the existing sash.
Thank you for your help and support.
