Balance Replacement Needed

Handy Person from Chula Vista, CA

I'm in need of 2 new, functioning window retainer springs. I can't see what type of windows there are just the condo was built in 2003/2004 time and these are single hung windows. There is some type of identification on these if you can figure it out... 26 9 PC BSI or BS1... hard to tell the 1 from the I

The metal bar only is 26 5/8th inches long... and the overall length including the nylon or plastic pieces on each end is 28 inches. I would also need the metal retaining clips if you have all of this available. It's about 15 year old and is an outside facing window... *well most are I guess*.... but this one seems to have a lot of dirt and grim in the part but after 15 years... probably not unusual. I watched your videos and they are so very very helpful... now to get the part and replace the window....

Thank you again,

Brad

appreciate your help.

Attached are some photos of balance springs the complete assembly and I would like some replacement ones please. These are from 2003/2004.. I wrote to you about these earlier and saw the video of what photos you really needed and these I think will help. The actual size of the metal housing is 26 5/8ths.
there is a part missing on the photo... apparently broke off... small metal part that fits in the window slide on the size. THere is a indent for that part to push down on the spring I believe is the purpose. There are also two retaining clips I need to replace the old ones.... might as well.... I need 2 of these please.... and 2 clips... hopefully, they are assembled since looking at that spring, it appears it may take some special tool to stretch the spring ?
Thanks you,
Brad

Hey, Brad. We can replace this balance but it will have to be a special order. Your information and pictures are great, but there's one last bit of information we need before we can get started. In your second photo in your first post, you show the underside of your shoe. Pressed against the shoe was a metal hook, tied to the end of the cord. Can you show us an undamaged version of this hook? That will confirm for us exactly what balance you need. Thank you!

You also mention retaining clips, but I'm not sure what those might be. Can you show me a photo of one?

Attached are 3 photos that I hope will help getting 2 new balance block and tackle setups. One of the photos is the "clip" that attaches to the frame of the window in the window channel. Similar to how other ones attach.. just a little different design. I've seen the other ones and like how they look better but guess we have what we have. There is another one that shows the actually plastic pully attached to the part that was broken on the first photo. I'm not sure you could see the pully that was part of the "foot" of the balance. Finally there is a photo of the "clip" that fits in the channel of the window and is one of the first items mentioned in all your video's for removing the window. I guess it's called a "window clip"? but anyway... hope that help....

Thanks,

Brad~~<

ALmost forgot.... the window clip that is pictured is a little bit bigger diameter than 3/8th inch. It could have been "bent" over the last 15 years or so but it appears to be about 3/8th of an inch in daimeter...

Thanks again,

Brad~<

Thank you! This is all we needed. That clip you're showing us is the take-out clip. I'm confident that our 16-002 will replace it. This is used to remove the balance and sash from the window and is not physically connected to the balance in any way.

As for the balance, we can definitely replace this. Now that I know what it is, I just need to confirm its availability. Once I do, I'll email you an order link and price quote for 2. Please give me a little more time and I'll post here again once I have everything together!

Hey TOM.... no worried.... It's Christmas and it doesn't rain much here in San Diego and certainly no snow. All is well.... window is closed 100% and does not need to be opened unless emergency.... (which I don't foresee anyway)... If worse comes to worse... I guess I could send you the OLD balance's from the window and just do a parts replacement if it comes to that. I'd fix it myself but I"m thinking it probably would not work... :) I'm sure your replacement will be 100% better... cleaning out old crud on frame and window so let me know on cost of 2 and time frames involved...
Thanks for your help and NOW I KNOW where to go for parts for most anything~~~~~~
Have a great Christmas and New Year to you and all of the folks there at SWISCO....
