slam button problems

A quick learner from California says:
My sliding door is not fitted with a keeper and I have the a multi point latch lock without a slam button. The lock is 11" on center between the screw holes (i think similar to 82-259). I have a spare latch that does come with a slam button and unfortunately I can't get the door to latch even with latches extended to max. Do you have a part that I can fit on the other door that can help engage the slam button? the holes I have are about 3" on center.

Thanks

I'm not sure what the problem is. Could it be your mortise lock is defective? It should have a slam button near the center of the lock so it can press up against the flat part in the keeper. If you do order the 82-259, it comes with a keeper. If possible, I'd like to see a picture of your existing mortise lock so we can get a better idea of what oyu have and what may be able to work as a replacement.

Please see attached pics. My problem is I changed my old mortise lock with one that has an anti slam function with doesn't allow me to close the door because there nothing on the other wiki sing door that will engage the anti slam button to allow me to close he door I.e latch the door

I think I see what you're talking about. If you can still use your original keeper, you could consider installing a screw or flat head washer to make up a button to activate that anti slam function. Would that work for you?
