vinyl double hung window springs snapped

Handy Person from Reedsville, WI
Vinyl Double hung Gorell window is heavy to lift due to coil springs let loose from the bottom. Clips broke? How do you hook the spring to the coil housing? Do you start at the bottom or the top? Where does spring get hooked on the bottom? Which way should spring face? Can you show me pictures of how to hook and repair? Do we need a special tool? We do need 2 mounting brackets. Cannot find online a tutorial on how to repair? Besides mounting brackets, what parts do we need to repair this window?

Hello,

We can't be sure with the hardware still installed but your photos resemble the 15-087 housing pivot, which uses the Series 180 coil springs. We also offer the 16-024 bracket commonly used with this coil balance setup. Take a look and compare the specifications below and the accessories related on our product pages to yours. We'll also include a diagram showing the configuration of this assembly. Thanks for posting!

Does this also need 15-086 part or it can only work with 15-087 and S-180. If yes, do you have videos to refer?

The 15-086 is only needed if your balances use more than one coil on each side. We don't have a video showing this exact assembly but the diagram included in our last response shows how the 15-086 attaches to the top of the 15-087 housing.

Can you explain how 15-087 and S-180 gets put together and does
The other end of coil ( end with two holes) stays open ( when you look at window track, you can see other end of coil with two holes) I am assuming ?

The 15-087 comes apart and the S180 is installed inside it, which is why you only see the end of the coil extend above the housing and attach to the mounting bracket.

So the coil attached to mounting bracket expands as windows goes down?
