vinyl window side channel balance replacement

I have a window in my house that had the string on the side channel balance break on both sides so I need two individual replacements and I've attached a close up photo of both ends, the tag numbers, zoomed out photo and the 28" dimension length of the steel channel without the end adapters. I tried to share some additional photos but I maxed out, please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you, Austin

Hi Austin,

Thanks for your post! Your window balances can be replaced with the S378-28, S380-28, or the S385-28. To narrow down the correct series, you'll need to confirm the depth of your shoe.

I believe you can select the 2730 stamp but it would be a good idea to double check that the sash weighs between 13 to 19lbs.

Thank you so much for helping me figure this out! I'll measure the balance shoe and determine if it's S378, S380 or S385. I'm not entirely sure how I weigh the sash of the window to confirm if it's 13 to 19lbs...? Do you mean removing the whole window pane and weighing that?

Hi Austin,

My pleasure to assist! That would be the correct way to weigh the sash. Once you've removed it, you can either weigh yourself holding the sash and without holding it, then take the difference or you can just sit the sash on the scale.

Hi Jasmine,

I just weighed my sash and it was right at about 18/19lbs, is it best to jump up to the 2740 at 19lbs to 26lbs or stick with the 2730?

If the sash weighs 18lbs and you are rounding up, I would suggest sticking with the 2730 stamp option. An 18lb sash would fall between the 13 to 19lb weigh range.
