window balance

Question

My old balance is stamped 27 4 CU CMC 4.
It seems that balance isn't made anymore.
I believe I could use a replacement from SWISSCO, choosing 27" length, 9/16" width channel with winged guides and a 1 3/32 shoe depth,
but what weight/strength should I choose?

Thanks for posting! Based on your photos and measurements, the balance you need is the S385-28. Since yours is stamped with a 27 4 you'll likely need the 2740 stamp option. Although, you may want to double check that the weight of your sash falls between 19 to 26lbs.
