window channel balance

I have aluminum single hung vertical windows and smaller sashes are 35L by 18H and have 1540 balances and work well and do not need to be replaced. The larger sashes are 46L by 18H and have balances listed as 1590 and one works well and other is broken.

I would like to replace all the 1590s ie 4of then. Do you have those and does it seem like a smaller weight balance would work ie 1550. Sash weight of larger is 22 pounds.

Thank you for contacting us. I'm afraid that I can't identify what balances you have based on this information. I recommend that you check out our Channel Balance Home Page and follow the steps shown in order to find the Series that more closely resembles your own.

The part is series 385 and and again the stampings are 1590 M BSI 17. Customer service said to ask you if 1550 would work for 22 pound window or if I need to custom order a 1590 series 385. Tom

Great! Now, is it also 16" long? That's what the stamp of 1590 implies. If so, then take a look at our S385-16 channel balance. As you can see on that same page, there is a chart listing the weight ranges for each option. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that any of the options can carry a weight of 22 pounds. That means the balance will have to be specially made for you.
