Marked with 27 4 BSI RN on its end as shown in one of the uploaded photos, it is 28 inch in length (the metal only).

Thanks for your post! This window balance is made with a winged top guide and a wingless bottom shoe, like our Series 395 Channel Balance. Since your channel is 28", you'll need the S395-28.

You can likely use the 2740 stamp option but it may be a good idea to double check that your window sash weighs between 19 to 26lbs.
