windows slipping - how can i reset my spring?

Quick Learner from New York
Hi,

I have some windows that won't stay up. I think the spring/tube has lost it's ability to hold them up.

Do you think they can be "reset". I see you sell a tool to do that. Or do you think I should replace them.

If a tool will might do it, which one?

If I need to replace it which would you suggest. I've attached some pictures to help. The length of the metal tube is 25".

Thanks,
Patrick

Hey, Patrick, thanks for posting. You can definitely reset them--we refer to it as "charging." Take a look at our 75-006 charging tool for tilt windows. I think you can give it two or three turns, that should give it a little more tension. If that doesn't work, though, you may need replacement balances.

You should also check out our handy guide on the proper way to charge these balances.
