window springs

A home owner from buxton, maine says:
I have an old house with windows that originally had side locks to keep them open. Someone retrofitted some of the windows with these. I assume they're springs. They used to hace a plastic sheath, and they attach to the bottom of the pane and then to thw top of the sash. I havent been able to find them anywhere.

Hello,

This looks like an older spiral balance. We'd be happy to identify a replacement but we'll need to see a photo of the balance removed from the window, including the end of the spiral that comes out of the tube. You'll also need to confirm the diameter of the broken plastic cover to determine the correct replacement. Thank you!

The cover is 5/8. The tops were only held in my a single screw and the bottoms are held on by very small heads. Thank you for your help.

Great. Take a look at our S500 spiral balance and see how it compares to your original.
