wood window balances

Quick Learner from ny
hi,
i would like to install balances to replace the ones in my wooden windows.
i want the balances to remain hidden when the window is open or closed.

i've attached what is currently in place.
The top bracket adheres to the sash and the bottom fits into a piece that is mounted inside the channel

Please let me know if you can replace these windows and how to determine the length.
And what additional hardware is needed.

thank you

Thanks for posting! Before we can offer an applicable replacement for these balances, I'll need a bit more information. First, what is the length and diameter of your balance tube? Would you also happen to know the weight of your window sash?

5/8 of an inch and I have various lengths as there are several windows
They weigh 7-8 lbs

Great! Thanks for posting. In that case, you may want to look at our Series 500 spiral balances. I think you may be able to use these as substitutes along with a bracket like our 17-012. Take a look and see what you think.

You should also take a look at our guide on the proper way to install this type of balance. This should shed some insight on what you will need to keep in mind while considering a replacement.

Thx.
The Series 500 is visible. But what I had previously was hidden in the sash.
Doesn't seem like a fit

Unfortunately, we don't really have any balances that can remain hidden once installed. Our hardware would be visible.
