Looking for window replacement parts. Single tilt window. 28 D balance. Window was installed in Nov 1999.

Some of the stings snapped. Can we just replace the string on the balance or do we need to replace the entire balance?

Do we need to add the same balance or are they interchangeable with a newer balance model?

Hello,

Your channel balance resembles the S770-28 (28D) plain channel replacements. With that being said, the individual components are not able to be replaced or repaired. Once one of the balances breaks, we strongly recommend replacing both sides so that the sash is evenly supported.

As for the pivot shoe, take a look and compare the specifications of the 15-129 to yours. Thanks for posting!

Thank you. What pivot bar would fit into the 15-129 pivot shoe and work with the balance I currently have? S770-28. Here is a picture of the current metallic bar that is 2 1/2 inches in length.

Now that I am looking. Is the pivot bar the 26-021 and my balance not the S770-28 but rather the series 795? My windows are from 2000 so 24 years old if that helps.

I agree that your pivot bar resembles the 26-021 depending on how the dimensions below compare to yours.

With that being said, you do not appear to have the S795 channel balance, which uses a T-lock shoe like the 15-195 at the bottom. Your pulley clip attaches to a separate 15-129 style pivot shoe below the balance, which matches the S770 and would not be compatible with the S795. You'll just need to confirm that your balance installs with a screw at the top of the channel.
