29Inch Channel Balance
Thanks for posting. 2865 is actually not a part number, but rather a stamp code that refers to the spring strength of the channel balance. This will be important later; but for now we have to identify the type of channel balance you have. The one you have pictured is missing its bottom end attachment. Do you have an undamaged version you can show us? If so, pictures of both attachments would be most useful. Also, could you please confirm that the length of the metal channel (but not including those end attachments) is 29"? Thank you.
Thanks for getting back to me. Here is a few more pictures of the balance attachments..actually yes the one side is broken...hence my need for a new one. You'll find some close-ups of each attachment. Yes the length of the metal channel not including the attachments is just a tiny bit shy of 29". If you still can't identify the broken attachment...I'll try to get the other working side out of the window. The take out clip on that side is broken so I am having a hard time removing that working channel balance. The broken clip has a part number on it of 150002. Iti certainly looks like a Series 395 to me.
Hello! I hope I can help. This is a special part that cannot be replaced by any of our standard channel balances, such as our Series 395. The key difference is the construction of the pulley system; in this balance, it's built into the bottom nylon shoe itself. It may not seem like it at first glance, but this is an important distinction and renders our standard balances incompatible.
We can still help, thankfully, but it will have to be a custom order. I just wanted to confirm a couple things.
First, you say the length is shy of 29". Would I be right to assume it's precisely 28-5/8"? That's typically how long these special balances are.
Next, let's look at the hook at the end of the cord. I can just make it out in your first photo in your first post. It looks to me like it's a match for our 62-105. Can you confirm? If not, could you show us a clearer picture?
Finally, can you tell me how many you need? When we do custom orders, we have to pre-set the quantity ahead of time. Quantity also determines price, so it's important to know that before we get started.
Once I have this information all squared away, we will email you an order link and price quote for the requested quantity.
Thank for getting back to me. I just noticed the pulley system built in...didn't even think about it before you said it. What a pain!
It actually is about 28 7/8". I'll attach pic of the measurement and yes the hook looks very much like the 62-105.
I really only need 1 but it might make sense to just replace both of them so they match.
I am still trying to contact the window manufacturer so I can try and track one down. My home is only 5 years old so I'm hoping it's still under warranty. I was just trying to explore all of my options.
Thanks
Chris
Perfect. You have pretty much exactly what I thought you had. We can definitely supply this; I would need a little more time to confirm cost and availability, but I understand if you want to see if your windows are under warranty. That's the best thing to do for now.
Let me know if they're not, though, and we can help. Because these are a special order, we can only supply 2 as a minimum quantity, but we recommend replacing both anyway.
We're here to help whenever you need it! Just say the word.
Thanks so much. I am still waiting to hear back from my Home Warranty people...I'll let you know what they say. If they are no help...which is what I would venture to guess will happen. I'll let you know and order 2 of these, thanks for your help on this.
Chris
You got it, Chris. You just let us know!
