Alside Model 201 - Double Hung parts

Hi,
Will your coil balance shoe, model 15-177, and series 152 balance springs work with my Alside Model 201 sash?
Thanks!

Hello, Len. I'm afraid I don't know what balances are used on that window so I cannot verify. I would need to see photos of your original balance system in order to judge if our 15-177 shoe and Series 152 spring would be suitable.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply. I've attached a photo from another window (same model). Hopefully, this helps.
Thanks,

Thank you! I agree, that looks just like the 15-177. I think the parts you picked out will work perfectly fine for this application.

Thanks, Tom! I received the parts today. Is there a video on how to install the 15-177 shoe with the S152 coil? I looked on your website but didn't find anything. I believe I can use the screws from the old shoes, and see how everything was installed with the old parts.

One specific question I have concerns the opening of the metal part of the shoe. Do I need to rotate the opening so that the pivot bar can drop into it? Otherwise, it seems that the bar would just sit on the metal part.

We unfortunately don't have a video on this particular assembly but it's fairly straight forward. The coil spring slides into one of those diagonal slots you see coming down from the top of the 15-177 pivot shoe. The screw then inserts into the side. It doesn't matter what slot you use.

As for the pivot bar, you do want to rotate the cam after installation, yes. That will lock the shoe in place and allow you to properly reinsert the sash.

Thanks, Tom! That clarifies it!

Happy to help! Please let me know if you had any other questions.

I have a sash that weighs 13.7 pounds and takes the 152 series coil balance. For that should I go with the 152-6 or 152-8 coil balance (I didn't see a 152-7)?

Thanks,
Len

We have a 7 pound option for the Series 152. That'd be our S152-7 and in your case it would be my recommendation. It won't be exact but I doubt you'll notice such a fractional difference.
