Balances for Consolidated Windows

Question

For some reason, these windows have no take out clips. Very difficult to put back. Any idea what model these are and how to solve installing them without take out clips. Or should I drill a couple of holes to install take out clips

Thanks for posting! For this balance, I believe you have either our S380-20 or S385-20, depending on the depth of the bottom shoe. The S380-20 comes with our 15-005 shoe which is 1" deep, and the S385-20 comes with the 15-004 shoe which is 1-3/32" deep. Otherwise, these two balances are the same. You can just measure your shoe to determine the best match.

As for the take out clip, see if there are slots in the window where old ones may have once gone. They should be two small rectangular holes, one on top of the other. If so, you can install our 16-002.

If there are no holes whatsoever, you can drill a hole and use a screw as a temporary measure. Having the screw stick out a little, the top attachment on the balance will catch it as if it were the 16-002. Then, once everything is replaced and reinstalled, you can just remove the screw entirely so the window can function normally.
