Broken pivot shoe and assembly.

I was washing windows and when I pushed the top pane into place, something broke and the top would not stay up. I am including a photo of the broken part I took out of the track, as well as the label and photos of the working parts in one of my non-broken windows to help find the right replacement parts. I need full track assemblies for both sides on the top and bottom panes where they are broken. Thanks for your help.

Hello there. This is a Simonton Coil Balance system that is no longer made. Our 15-259 Pivot Shoe and Series 159 Coil Balance springs ought to be able to replace it. See below.

Thanks for the information. For the new coil(s), can I replace the two coils that are currently on each side of my sashes with just one coil if it will carry sufficient weight? I weighed the sashes and they are 22.2 lbs for the top and 23.6 for the bottom.
I would be inclined to purchase one 11.5 lb coil for each side and use those for both top and bottom, but I'm not sure if there's a reason the windows originally had two coils and not just one. I'd appreciate your advice, then I think I'll be ready to order parts and give the repair a try. Thanks.

Good question. Yep, you could totally do that. Window builders work with the parts that they have, and so they might simply not have had strong enough coils to work with one per side. The 11.5 pound S159-11 springs will give you 23 pounds of support on both sides of a sash. You want to be within 1 pound of the actual sash weight, and so that setup would work for both a 22.2 pound and 23.6 pound window. Let us know if you have further questions!
