I went to fold out this window this morning a discovered that the sash (I believe thats what it is called) is broken on the right side of the sliding window itself. I believe I would need all the parts that would go on the slider and frame. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Paul
Broken sash parts
Hello, Paul. The sash is the glass panel. What you need appears to be a pivot bar, at minimum, and potentially the coil balance assembly. That's the spring loaded mechanism on either side of the frame that regulates the operation of the window.
We can help with both of those components, but we need clearer photos of each. For the pivot bar, please remove an undamaged version and show me a clear photo of it by itself and without obstruction. Similarly, for the coil balance, I need you to remove the entire thing from the window and show me a photo of it. The frame covers too many important details, so removal is necessary before identification at minimum.
Perfect, thanks. See our 15-180 pivot shoe, 15-186 detent clip, 15-182 barrel, and the Series 190 coil spring. I'm confident that these will replace your old balance assembly.
I still need to see an undamaged version of the original pivot bar in order to identify a match. Were you able to get that photo for me?
Thank you! That's a huge help. I have seen this pivot bar before. We don't sell an exact match, but some customers in the past have successfully used our 26-452.
That said, I'm not sure I've ever seen this particular pivot bar used with the 15-180. I'm concerned about compatibility. Our 15-180 is designed to work with a "U" shaped pivot bar like our 26-040. This may be a better option (plus it's steel, not die cast, so less chance of it breaking like this). I think this may be a better, option, but only if its one screw hole aligns with the original. Look it over and see what you think.
Thank you,
Paul
Thanks for verifying the sash weight. For a 17 pound sash, I suggest using one S190-940 spring on each side. These hold 9 pounds each, which gives you 18 pounds of total support. That's a bit higher than your weight but you won't notice only a half pound of difference.
Again, Thank you.
Paul
