Caldwell 1/2" x 26" Channel Balance Replacement

Home Owner from Clayton, CA.

I want both left and right replacements for our Caldwell Side Load Channel Balances along with 2 replacement take out clips. The only marking I can read is "Caldwell 26 4 AR" on the broken balance. The 26" reads along the metal rail only. The window is non-tilt. The rail measures 1/2" width on the top.

Please let me know if more information is required.

Thank you,

Peter

Hi, Peter.

It appears you have either our Series 380 or Series 385, depending on the depth of your bottom shoe. The S380 comes attached with a 1" deep shoe and the S385 comes with a 1-3/32" deep shoe. You'll need to measure as shown below to determine which one you have.

Your 26 4 stamp indicates your metal channel length should be 27" but if its measuring as 26", you'll need our S380-26 or S385-26. You will also need to weigh your sash on a scale  and refer to the chart under the product description on the S380 and S385 store pages to determine the appropriate spring strength option for your balance.

For new take out clips, compare yours to our 16-002 to see if this matches what you need.

The depth of the bottom shoe measures (as close as I can get it) 1 1/16". It's about half way between the 15-004 and 15-005. Please go with what works better from your experience. The metal channel actually does measure 27". (I measured along the bottom to where the plastic pieces touched getting the erronious 26".) Let's go with 27".

The sash weighs 19.2 lb on our bathroom scale.

It's hard to judge whether your take out clips will fit. I have attached a photo of our existing take out clip, and do want to add two of your clips to our order.

Thank you for your assistance.

Thank you for confirming, Peter. If your bottom shoe is bigger than 1", you most likely have the S385-27 with the 2640 spring strength option. I'm thinking your bottom shoe just wore down over time from use. I'm afraid your picture of your takeout clip didn't come through but as long as your dimensions match our 16-002, you should be good to go.

All orders can be placed directly on our website at your convenience!
