Channel Balance 3140

Contractor from La Mirada, Ca

Hello. Can you help me order parts to replace this pair of sash balance? They measured 32" (metal to metal) and were about 9/16 x 9/16". I will also need to install (1) take out clip which was missing

Thank you,

Robert

Hello,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either the S380-32 or S385-32 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. You'll also need 3140 spring strength options for your replacement balances.

As for your take-out clip, see the 16-002 commonly used with these non-tilt window balances. Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hello,
The fitting is 1-3/32"
The takeout clip does match the dimensions you provided.
The eight of the sash is 28.2 lbs
Thank you,
Robert

Great, then you would need the S385-32 with 3140 strength options to support a sash between 23-28 lbs. Just let us know if you need anything else.

Would it be wise to opt for the 3150 weight option? I'm thinking the springs wear in time? But I don't have as much experience in this hardware. What are your thoughts on that?
Thanks

It is important to use strength options that support your exact sash weight. If your window sash weighs 28 pounds, 3150 balances would be too strong, which could prevent the sash from closing properly or even damaging the hardware.
