Channel Balance for Tilt Window

I believe you can use our Series 795 to replace your old balance. Please note, however, that our balance uses a screw tab to install at the top of the window, not a hook. If yours has a hook, please tell me. The Series 795 won't work as-is.

Gotcha. There's no easy way for you to modify it, unfortunately. That screw tab needs to be swapped out for a 15-198 hook, which we usually recommend doing as a custom order. You can try it yourself, but you have to be very careful; these cords are under a lot of tension and you need to lock it firmly in a vice grip in order to die the screw tab off and screw on the 15-198 hook. You also need safety gloves and googles; the last thing you want is for the clip to slip out of your grip, snap back, and catch your finger or take out an eye. It sounds like I'm exaggerating but I'm not; I know a guy who got it in the eye a few years ago. You have to wear goggles.

Otherwise, you can return the balances you purchased for a refund and then place a new custom order for this balance pre-assembled with the 15-198 hook. We'll do all the work for you.
