I am replacing the channel balance and when measuring the length of the housing is is 34" yet the stamp on the housing indicates a "unique balance 33D". Is the correct balance a 33" with a sash weight of D or a 34" wi a sash weight of D"

When measuring the length, make sure that you're only measuring the metal channel. Do not include the bottom shoe. When in doubt, you can always weigh your sash and compare that weight to the chart of options we have listed for every Series 795 in our inventory.

I recognize this balance. Unfortunately, the company that made it has gone out of business and this part is no longer made. Our Series 795 may work, but I cannot guarantee that it will be an exact replacement.

It does look like your metal channel is 34" long, so I would stick with that. Like Tom said, you can weigh your sash and compare it to the chart of options for the S795-34 to confirm which would be best to chose.
