Coil balancer

A home owner from Garfield, NJ says:

Hello, my name is Marko and I need assistance in Purchasing the right coil balances. The ones I have, both of the top coils are broken on the side. The stamp on the coil are "D". The window weight is 12 pounds. I have included several pictures.  Thank you.

This looks like a 15-177 Pivot Shoe, which uses Series 152 Coil Balances. A stamp of 'D' might denote a 4 pound S152-4 spring; however, if the window weighs exactly 12 pounds, I would use 2 S152-6 6 pound springs, one on each side of the sash. That would total 12 pounds of support overall.

A home owner from Garfield, NJ says:
Thank you for your response. I want to ensure that I only need to purchase two (2) S 152-6 6 pound one for each side? Which screw is recommended for connecting the top coil with the shoes? Also, can I use my old coil housing for the top coil support? Your help is greatly appreciated!

If your sash weight is 12 pounds then you definitely want to follow the instructions Bob gave above. You'll also need an additional cover/cartridge for the springs since it looks like your old setup only had one. So I recommend the 15-143, 15-144, and 15-145. These three pieces all kind of "sandwich" together and snap over the spring, working as a cartridge to hold it in place.

As for screw, you want the 33-072.
