Mastic Window pivot bars rusted and broken off

A quick learner from Illinois says:

Hello

I have a Mastic window with both pivot bars broken off due to rust. I've tried to pull out the old rusted ones but metal just keeps breaking off more.

Wondering if a longer pivot bar (with tip for going into shoe still in wall) could be put on the outside channel of the window rather than inside and be attached with longer screws into pivot bar to secure? I believe it's a 3/16 channel but I think it could accommodate a flat pivot bar? What are your thoughts? Also need weatherstripping

Thank you

Hello,

We believe your Mastic vinyl window uses our 15-046 pivot shoe and the 26-040 pivot bar. To remove the rusty pivot bar, we recommend soaking it with WD-40. You might also need the charging tool, 75-006, to re-attach the Series 600 tilt balance to the new pivot shoe. Take a look at our videos for additional assistance with the repair. Thank you!
