Hi,

Can you please suggest what balancer I should buy for Milgard Double Hung vinyl windows ?
Balancer marking is 32D BSI EC.

I asked Milgard and they said it's a Styleline II window that requires 32D 747 Tilt Balancer. Can you help figure what I should buy?

Hello there! We can help with this. Our Series 795 is a match but your balance uses a hook to install which means this must be a custom order. We'll take the S795-32 with the 32D stamp and swap the screw tab with the 15-198 hook. Does that sound good to you? If so, let me know the number of balances you'd like to replace and I can get the ball rolling.

Thank you for your response. Let me check how many I need exactly. What is the difference between the balances stamped C and D?
Would it be possible to generate a preliminary bill for 10 balances? I assume I need to change balances in pairs.

Hi,

Can you please confirm that balancers need to be replaced in pairs?
I would like to order 2 balancers for 32D and 2 for 32C.

Also, how can I take the top hook out of the window frame?

The difference between the 32D and 32C stamps is the weight range they're calibrated to support. For example, a pair of balances with the 32D stamp can support a sash weighing 25 to 30 pounds, and a pair of balances with the 32C stamp can support a sash weighing 20 to 25 pounds.

We always recommend replacing both balances, yes. Pairing a new balance with an old one will cause the new balance to wear out much faster as it has to pick up the slack for the older one. I'll go ahead and email you an order link for (2) S795-32 balances with the 15-198 hook and 32D stamp, and (2) S795-32 balances with the 15-198 hook and 32C stamp. You can use this to place an order on our website.

The hook should be able to be pulled out by hand.

Can you please tell me how the hook should be removed by hands (what should I pull it by)? Sorry, I tried to pull it up but that did not work.

That's very odd though! It should have just come out when you pulled it up in our experience. There isn't a trick or anything to it, I'm afraid. We recommend seeing if a local professional can assist with the removal.

Hi,

Thank you for your help with this.
I got the custom S795-32 with hooks, but the t-lock shoes were not incorrect.
The correct shoe for my Milgard window is "15-236 - 1-1/4" T-Lock Spring Shoe, Closed Cam".
Do you know if I got the incorrect t-lock shoes for S795-32 or I had to buy extra 15-236 t-lock shoes myself?

The 15-236 shoe has a recessed stem that is designed to fit into the groove in the old metal channel. The Series 795 comes attached with the 15-195 by default which is the shoe we recommend to replace the old one. The stem is different but it will still work for you.

Thanks for the quick reply.
For some reason 15-195 did not block the balancer spring from retracing back (I turned the metal piece with a screw driver, so the white stoppers came out). 15-236 worked fine.
Would be able to you recommend a video to install a balancer efficiently? Do I put the metal hook first and then try to connect the boot to the balancer? Thanks again for your assistance.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you mean by the 15-195 not blocking the balance from retracing back. Can you clarify that for me?

As for the installation, I recommend watching the video below starting around the 3:15 mark. It will show you how to install this type of balance.
