Need Balance and CAM
Sure, we can replace this balance, but it will have to be specially made. Can you just tell me how many of each you need?
We would basically be making you our standard Series 795, but replacing the top screw tab with a 15-198 hook.
Once I know how many you need, I'll email you an order link and price quote for each.
Well, if you ordered the Series 795 already, it would be possible to swap the top clip out yourself. We generally like to do it for customers, since the cord is under so much tension, but it is possible to do yourself. Let me walk you through the process, then you can tell me how you want to proceed from there.
First, you want to secure the balance firmly in a vice, pull the cord out some, then lock it firmly in place with locking pliers. Be very careful when you're doing this; like I said, the cord is under a lot of tension. If you let it go without securing it, it will snap back into the channel and could either damage the balance or even hurt you. We recommend wearing safety gloves and goggles when doing this just to be safe.
Once the cord is extended and secured, you can simply untie the screw tab that comes with the Series 795 and swap it out for our 15-198 hook. Hold onto the cord firmly, unlock it, and gently let it retract back into the channel.
There is another, much easier solution, but it's not always possible. Look at the hole where the old balance hooked into. Is it a narrow slot or a square hole? If it's a square hole, you could theoretically use our 26-200 screw plug. This just pops in the hole and let you use the Series 795 as-is. In my experience, having a square hole in this kind of window isn't that common, but if you happen to have one then you're very lucky! Using the 26-200 is definitely the easier solution.
Let me know how you wish to proceed.
We can make it for you right now, we have all the materials in stock. I'll email you a special order link and price quote for 2 of each size balance. You can return the ones you purchased for a refund whenever you wish.
