Open vs closed t lock shoe

A quick learner from USA says:

I am interested in the S795-34 channel balance.

I noticed it comes with the 1-1/4" wide closed cam T shoe, while existing one on my home comes with the open cam. The depth of each show is the same based on your site so why can't I buy and use the standard S795-34 channel balance with closed 1-1/4" T-shoe included to replace existing model?

Thanks for posting. Basically, the closed t-shoe might not allow enough room for your pivot bars; if you have the open cam, it allows the pivot bars to slide through. If your window was not designed for the closed cam, the risk of using one then is that your sash might be too tight in the opening, and you will not be able to fit it back in.

If you need an open cam, purchase the 15-195B along with your Series 795 Channel Balance. The video below explains how to swap out the closed came t-shoe with your open cam option.
