Parts to fix my casement windows exposed to salt water

Home Owner from Rockway Beach Oregon
I'm going to need some parts to replace for my windows. Attached are some photos I have taken. Since these two windows are located close to the beach they are exposed to salt air and age a lot quicker than everywhere else. I don't need the cranks but I do need the arms and slide assemply to two windows.  Do you have the parts?

Hello,

It sounds like you're looking for replacement hinges. Take a look at the 36-004-10 in stainless steel, which will hold up better in salt water conditions. Just make sure to confirm the 10" base that attaches to the window sill matches yours. Thanks for posting!

I don't think that one is the correct piece although it is close to the correct mechanism. I have two windows that actually need the left and right mechanisms since the windows are mirrors images of themselves. I've attached some more photos with some dimensions on them. Hope you can help me?

It does look like the 36-004-10 would be our best matches for your hinges as long as it has the same 10" base. You should be good to go as long as you replace the top and bottom hinges at the same time.

If you need the operators as well, see the 39-220B and 39-221B shown in your first batch of photos, as well as the related parts shown on this page.

Your second batch of photos shows the dual-arm Encore operators featured in our video below. The determining factor would be the fitting attached to the long arm.

Actually I think the ones I need are both the right and left hand operators of 39-438B (A & B?). There is a number on one of the the pieces to the arm, it reads 31858.  Since I have two windows with opposite openings I would need two new operator arms. The reason is because of the square shape sliders on the end are completly rusted off. Attached are photos the slider pieces that rusted off and actually fell off both operator arms. One from each window arm.  Stainless would be best since I am only 2 blocks from the Sea.  Also, can I return them if I find they are not the correct pieces that I need?  They would be returned in perfect condition in your originaly packaging too.   Thanks!

We can't be sure of which operators you need without seeing the fitting attached to the long arm removed from the sash track.

As for the guides in your last photo, those are from the hinges that we recommended the 36-004-10 to replace as long as the base measurement matches yours. Keep in mind that the operator and hinges are separate pieces of hardware.

The 36-004-10 part looks totally different than my arms?  If those are some type of universal upgrade, I can't see how they would connect to my arms?  My ends of the arms have slides like the photo attached. They are badly rusted but I'm sure they are exactly like the 39-438B,439B part slides. They are attached to the arms by rivots and can't be removed or purchased separatly. As for your answer -  "We can't be sure of which operators you need without seeing the fitting attached to the long arm removed from the sash track."  May I ask what fitting do you need to see, I took a lot of photos but I'm not at the beach house today.

The image that you provided below matches the 39-529 used with the 39-253RB and 39-253LB

The design of the guides in your most recent photo appears similar to the fitting used with the 39-438B and 39-439B you mentioned but it is also a design used for many hinge sliders. Since the photo of your operator guide does not match the guides you show uninstalled and I see rust on the base of your hinge where the slider would fit on the track, I am left to conclude that the guides you removed must be from the hinges. The 36-004-10 we mentioned is a slightly different design but they are very versatile replacements as long as the top and bottom hinges are replaced at the same time.

The sliders I have are nomally attached, but just have rusted out.  The ones you showed me have center holes. Mine have holes on the ends, and they are for both left and right windows. Please look closer because I'd like to buy the correct hardware. I am a very good do-it-yourseIf person but if I order the incorrect parts no matter what I do they aren't going to work. The windows themselves are in great shape!  The arms and hinges have a little rust on them but the sliders have completely rusted out so the bottom on the windows are just kind of hanging on the arms now and have very little support.  If I could some how get the "sliders" you sugested to work they would need mounting holes, those don't have them. They should also be made out of stainless steel, they do not look like stainless to me?. If I bought the 36-004-10 two bar hinge set, could I return them if they are not correct for my windows?  Also I would need the top and bottom hinges, with stainless screws too.  What is the cost of the set?  If they work I would them order another set for my other window that is reversed. There are two windows in the bedroom - left and right hand windows with reversed hardware.

As I mentioned, our hinges are quite versatile and have worked as replacements for different variations of this type of two-bar hinge as long as they have the same 10" long base. The 36-004-10 comes with two hinges, one for the top and one for the bottom of the sash. If you decide to give them a try, our return policy can be found here. We offer the 33-115 screws but commonly used with these hinges but make sure to confirm the length matches your original screws to avoid hitting the glass in your sash accidentally. Pricing for each part can be found on our product pages.
