Replacement Coil Balance System

A handy person from NC says:

trying to replace my coil spring single tilt window mechanism. photos attached. There are no markings on the cover or on the coils. The window is about 30x30.

It is about 3 inches tall, 1 1/4 wide and 1 5/8 between screw holes. First pic is when it is in the window frame, but screws already removed.

2 coils, both come to the inside of the frame.

With a magnifying glass, I can read #5.5 39" PAT523208 on the coilsthanks

This is a coil balance system, which helps regulate the opening and closing of the window. The pivot shoe resembles our 15-111. This uses either our Series 160 1/2" or Series 165 3/8" Coil Springs. Compare the thickness of your old springs to see what you need. If there is a '#5' stamped on the springs, you'll need our S160-5 or S165-5 5 lb springs. For new housing, see our 15-150D Double Support.

Thanks. The springs are 1/2 inch thick. Is there a part that includes the pivot shoe, housing and springs? Also, how long are the springs? The current housing screws in to the channel at the top of the sash, but your video shows the housing screwed in to the middle of the sash.

With rare exception, Coil Balance systems are modular, meaning each piece has to be bought separately. As far as the travel of these coil balances, most of ours have a travel of 40". Some older coil balance systems indeed were made to be quite a lot longer. I am afraid then it's quite possible you'll need to remount the new coil balances further down the window track.
